Quick Update

Just wanted to post a quick update.  First thing this morning we met with the research nurse that is in charge of the TIL cell clinical trial.  He gave us a little more detail about the trial and Greg signed the consent form to have the cells harvested from the tumor on Wednesday to start the process of growing and expanding the cells for future use, should we decide to participate in the trial.

After that, Greg had an EKG.  All results were normal.  The next stop was a visit with the cardiologist who will be performing a heart cath tomorrow morning.  He explained how all of that would work and what we should expect.  From there he sent us to the lab to have some bloodwork drawn.  And boy, did they draw some blood!  Sixteen tubes!!!

After a bite to eat, our last stop of the day was to meet with the cardio-thoracic surgeon who will be performing Greg’s surgery on Wednesday.  We had a long list of questions for him, which he patiently answered for us.  He explained how the surgery would be performed and how the repair to the heart would be made (using bovine material).  We won’t know if Greg will need a pacemaker until after the actual surgery is done and the heart can be evaluated for rhythm.  If a pacemaker is needed, it will be placed at that time.

Tomorrow we have to be at the hospital at 7:15 am for the heart cath.  We will be there for approx. 6 hours.  As of now, no other appointments are scheduled for tomorrow.  We still don’t have a definite surgery time for Wednesday, but the surgeon seems to think that it will be around 8:30 am.  We will know a definite time tomorrow evening.

The kids and Greg’s parents are flying in tomorrow afternoon, so please pray that they are able to make the flight with no problems.

Thanks for keeping our family in your prayers!

Trusting His Plan,

Sandra

Praying for God’s hand to be on all of you and the surgeons. I know that you are a great witness to all of the people you come in contact with. Love you!

We have been studying Hebrews in the Sun night class that Ron and I lead at the church. The past 2 weeks we have done ch 11 and 12. I have learned so much more about faith and persevering under trials as we dissected these chapters. . 12:1 tells us that because we have such a great crowd of witnesses (listed in ch 11) surrounding us, ..we are to run the race set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.. Your blogs show us that you, Greg and your family are walking in faith through this difficult time doing just that-trusting in Him. As we pray for complete healing for Greg, we also pray that everyone around you will see your faith in God and be drawn to Him. Sending love and prayers.
Also please note that my email address has changed. We are closing charter. New address is kathleen.dooley@cru.org
