Birthdays And Biochemo

Today is Greg’s birthday!  This is not really the place we wanted to spend his birthday, we’d much rather be at home with our kids, friends and family.  But it has not been too bad of a day.  Actually, Greg has felt a little better most of the day today.  We walked around the hospital a bit and even went outside a couple of times to enjoy the sunshine!

The nursing staff came in this morning and sang Happy Birthday and the kitchen staff brought him a Birthday cake.  He got balloons and a gift from our niece and her husband, and a delicious Edible Arrangement from our sweet friends, the Kings.  He also received several calls, emails, fb messages, and videos to wish him a Happy Birthday!  So, all in all, a nice day in spite of the circumstances.

Today is also Day 2 of Biochemo.  As I said, Greg has felt some better today…but his appetite has been quite poor.  He also continues to be weak and tired.  As far as his chemo, he is receiving two drugs today.  The first one started at 6pm and the last one is running now.  It should be done in about an hour.  Last night after the chemo, he felt poorly for several hours…nauseated and sore.  Today he’s trying to be proactive and took a pain pill before the first drug.  At the first sign of nausea, he’s going to request some medication so that maybe it won’t get too bad.  The night sweats continued last night, but were less.  Hopefully, tonight will be even less!

Thanks again to everyone who helped to make Greg’s birthday special and for being so faithful to pray for our family!

Here are a few pictures from our day.

So happy to see a picture of you and Greg… and I know being outside greatly brightened your moods, too. Happy Birthday to Greg! We spoke his name in church today during the prayers and continue to do so each time he comes to our minds (which is so often).

Hello, Greg and Sandra. I am so glad to hear you had some celebration yesterday. How nice of the staff to send a cake! We were thinking of you both yesterday and sending good wishes your way from Fayetteville.

I pray every day, Greg, for the restoration of your health and the safekeeping and comfort of your family and you. I will continue to pray fervently and send love and all good wishes your way. Please know that you remain constantly in my thoughts, and I hope you will let me know if there is anything at all I can do to help. I would love to do anything I could.

Meantime, I hope this round of chemo goes well and you will feel much better soon. You look great in the pictures Sandra has posted! I hope soon you will feel as good as you look in these pictures.

You and Sandra are an inspiration to all through the faith and grace you show. God bless and keep you both.

    With love,

    Lisa
