Be Of Good Courage!

Great devotion from Jesus Today:

Be of good courage, and I will strengthen your heart. I want My children to be brave–not cowardly. In fact, the Bible contains warnings of dire consequences for “the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers.” When you are going through very tough times and there is no relief in sight, you usually start looking for a way out. These escapist longings stem from self-pity and a sense of entitlement: You think you deserve better conditions than your current situation. But when you think this way, you are ignoring My sovereignty over your life. Though your circumstances may indeed be painful and difficult, they are not worthless. So master the courage to say yes to your life, trusting that I am in control and I am with you in your struggles. Come to Me with a courageous heart, hoping in Me, and I will bless you in many ways. Moreover, I will multiply your small act of bravery: I will strengthen your heart.

Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Ps. 31:24

Greg is currently on day two of biochemo. He has had a persistent headache since the beginning of treatment this time. He just got an order for a different pain med that has helped in the past, so hopefully it will work this time too. His blood pressure has been quite low since last night, getting as low as 85/48. His IV fluids were increased some to help with this. He has gained quite a bit of weight in the last couple of days as a result of fluid retention. They have decided to put him on dopamine to help regulate his fluid balance and blood pressure. His hemoglobin also continues to drop…this morning it was 8.2. He will be typed and cross-matched for a transfusion. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of blood supply right now, so the doctor said that he probably would not get the transfusion today.

So with the headache, the low hemoglobin, the low blood pressure, and not eating anything today, Greg is feeling tired and weak. They have encouraged him to try to get up and walk some today, so hopefully he will be able to do that soon. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers!

Trusting His Plan,
Greg, Sandra, Katie, Emilie and Jacob

Thanks for the quote. It challenged me. Praying for bp and hemo to go up and retention and pain to go down. And adding Isaiah 40:31 too!

Thanks for sharing that. We will be praying and believing for God to take care of Greg during these treatments.
