Turning A Corner?????

Well, after my last post on Friday Greg started feeling really bad again. Saturday was a really bad day, and the night was even worse. He kept a fever all day long and by Saturday night it had gone up to 103.6. He had another bad episode of rigors (violent shakes/chills), was nauseous and vomiting and was just miserable. We were up most of the night, and he got very little sleep. He had a hard time getting comfortable and would switch back and forth from the sofa to the recliner. Whenever he would doze off for a few minutes, he would wake up drenched in sweat. Finally about 6:30 Sunday morning, he decided to try to sleep in the bed. He went to sleep and slept until after noon! We were so thankful that he was able to get some much-needed sleep. Once he got up, he was feeling a little hungry and ate some lunch. Not long after that he was back asleep. He slept in the recliner or on the sofa for almost all of Sunday. His poor body was exhausted from having a fever for over two weeks straight. And the great thing was that he didn’t keep waking up being soaked. He was fever free all day and had no vomiting. Last night he slept in the bed again and rested well….no night sweats!

Greg woke up about 4:30 this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. He was feeling hungry so he got up and ate some breakfast. He has eaten a little better today, has had NO fever, NO vomiting, NO rigors, and NO sweats! He was even able to do a little work. He, of course is still very sick, tired/weak and continues to have some pain…but we have been praising God all day for this improvement! We had been begging God to grant Greg some relief from all that he has been going through over the past couple of weeks, and are so thankful that He has answered our prayers. Just for him to get some sleep is huge! It is so good to seem him smile and interacting with the family again! We are praying that Greg continues to improve each day!

A new symptom has appeared over the past couple of days….a rash over his neck, chest and back. We’re not sure if this is caused by him having such a high temperature for so long or if it’s a side effect of one of the medications. The new chemo should arrive tomorrow and Greg will add that to his treatment regimen.

We are scheduled to return to Houston on October 16 for infusion #3. Please pray for the following:

1. PLEASE take a minute to thank God on our behalf for His goodness to us over the past couple of days. We are always quick to ask you to pray for us about something; we don’t want to neglect to ask you to praise and thank God for something that He has done for us!
2. That our family would handle our current circumstances in a way that pleases the Lord and points others to Him.
3. That Greg would continue to improve and feel better every day.
4. That he would get the rest that he needs for his body to function properly.
5. That he would continue to have NO fever, NO night sweats, NO nausea/vomiting and NO rigors!
6. That Greg’s pain would continue to be tolerable or completely gone.
7. That the new drug would arrive tomorrow as scheduled.
8. That the medications would have maximum benefit and minimal side effects.
9. That we would SOON experience the COMPLETE healing of Greg’s body.
10. That our family would continue to cling to the promises of God and live each day with joy, with faith, with trust, with strength, with courage, and with grateful hearts.

Thank you all for praying for us, for encouraging us, for your calls, your messages, your visits and your support!

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars; He gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure. The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His steadfast love. Psalm 147:3-5,11

Trusting His Plan,
Greg, Sandra, Katie, Emilie and Jacob

We’ve been praying! Thanks, God, that often we get to see answers. Praying that this was the worst of it. Onward and upward toward healing!

So thankful for God’s hand in providing the miracle of a good night’s rest for Greg. I pray He provides the same for you, too. He’s a mighty God and get to call Him, “Father.” Sometimes, it’s all we can utter. We love you. All of you. Take care, Sandra.
