It’s Always Something

I mentioned in my last post that Greg had begun to develop a rash; well it has gotten worse. We think that it’s probably from the Ipi infusions that he has been receiving, as this is one of the main side effects of the drug. We contacted our doctor at MDA and he recommended that Greg see a local dermatologist. So, we went in today and they are very concerned. The rash is bad, but I think part of their concern stems from the fact that they have seen very few patients who are receiving Ipi. They did a biopsy and put Greg on a steroid cream. Our doctor in Houston wanted to be notified if they decided to put Greg on steroids, so we have a message in to him to be sure that he is in agreement with this plan. They try to avoid steroids if at all possible. We are supposed to go back to the dermatologist on Friday morning for a follow-up and results of the biopsy.

Greg has not felt too well today. He has a lot of pain in his spine and it hurts him to sit up. He has also been really weak/tired and has dozed on and off today. And….now he has a fever again. Just checked it….100.9. We’re thinking that there may be a correlation between the fever and one of the oral chemo drugs. Greg had been holding the dabrafenib for a few days since he had been vomiting so much. As much as these medications cost, you hate to take them and then throw them up! It seems as if that is when the fever had stopped. He started the Dabrafenib again early this morning (4am) and now tonight has a fever again. So this is something that we’ll have to watch and talk to the doctor about.

I have a favor to ask each of you. Tomorrow marks the day that Greg was diagnosed with melanoma two years ago. Would you consider fasting and praying tomorrow specifically for Greg’s earthly healing? It could be for the whole day or just one meal…whatever you feel the Lord leading you to do. I would love to know that all day tomorrow, Greg’s name is constantly being brought before the throne!

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” John 11:4

Trusting His Plan,

Will definitely be fasting and praying for Greg’s earthly healing tomorrow. I have done that on the first Monday of each month since the cancer came back last October, and I will certainly do so tomorrow. Mark and I regularly pray together for all of you. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help out. Would love to see you if there’s any time that Greg feels like it.
