To A New Widow

Elisabeth Elliot is a remarkable lady with a remarkable story. Her first husband, Jim Elliot, was brutally killed on the mission field in Ecuador. Elisabeth did not let her difficult situation stop her from living out what God had called her to do. Today, at the age of 88, she continues to be a mighty voice for Christ.

This morning I came across this piece that Mrs. Elliot wrote in a newsletter from 2003. It really resonated with me and her words are spot on. Just thought I’d share with you.  For those of you who have lost a spouse, maybe her words will help you to know that you are not alone in the feelings and emotions that you experience.  For those of you who have, fortunately, never had to endure the pain of widowhood, perhaps Elisabeth’s words will give you a small glimpse into what that life is like, so that you can better understand it.

I pray that at the age of 88 (if the Lord hasn’t already called me home), I could be even HALF the woman that Elisabeth Elliot is!

Enjoy this beautiful day!

Trusting His Plan,

Sandra

Thanks for sharing. I have been inspired by Elisabeth Elliot’s life in ways as well. I hope her words are powerful to you and to others.
