Almost Finished With Round 4 Of Biochemo

It has been a long, hard week for Greg, but we are finally seeing the finish line for round 4 of biochemo. Tonight at 10 pm Greg will receive two final injections and the last of the oral chemo. The last bag of interleukin is running now and will be finished at about 4 am. Tomorrow will be a “recovery” day and hopefully we’ll be able to leave on Tuesday. There is one injection that he still needs to get, but it must be given on an outpatient basis. So, we may be here one extra day or he may see about getting it at home from his local oncologist. Depending on that, it may actually be Wednesday before we get home.

As I said, this week has been very difficult for Greg. He has really struggled with nausea just about the whole time. Since he was admitted on Wednesday night, he has eaten two eggs, a fruit cup, one yogurt, a popsicle and a banana. Not much for four days. He’s trying to drink when he can, but he hasn’t done so well on that either. His hemoglobin has fluctuated….9.7, to 8.2, to 9.3 and back to 8.5 today. They don’t feel he has needed a transfusion yet, but they are keeping an eye on his labs. Greg’s blood pressure has also been pretty low this week, they have been fairly successful at keeping it up with medication and added fluids. He has also had a low-grade fever intermittently, which they are monitoring.

Please pray that all goes as planned and that we will be able to get home by Tuesday or Wednesday. We are looking forward to being home!

Trusting His Plan,
Greg, Sandra, Katie, Emilie and Jacob
